Day and night at the Pförti
The Pförti has many faces: Z'Morge place in the morning, meeting spot for the neighbourhood during the day, apéro bar with friends in the evening. One thing never changes: we're your café bar in Basel's Gellert, run with plenty of heart and apéro culture.
Croffles
Our signature: the croffle. Croissant dough, hot off the waffle iron, topped sweet & salty. Every recipe is our own creation, from Roastastic Beef to Grand Chocolat.
Breakfast & Brunch
Breakfast has no closing time here: Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m., for as long as you like. Once a month, the Sunday brunch joins in: buffet for CHF 39 including a hot drink.
Fondue & Raclette
Our gourmet fondue is called Gletscherfondue and comes from the Sennerei Pontresina in the Engadin. In Basel you'll find it only at our place: three blends in winter, the house mix under the open sky in summer. Glacier raclette is served in winter only.
Currently on the menu
Once the sun settles in, we move out to the garden: aperitivo hour, croffles, crisp salads, Pförtiplättli, homemade drinks. The summer classic for the bold: glacier fondue under the open sky.

Looking for a one-of-a-kind space for a company event or a birthday party? From the Engadin Room to the Studio Room to the whole house: your event finds its setting with us, with historic ambience and catering from the house. And if you need it mobile, our Croffle Bike comes to you.
About the Pförtnerhaus
Villa garden, coachman's house, home of a Basel poster advertising company: the Pförtnerhaus has lived many lives in over 140 years. Today the listed building at Hardstrasse 43 hosts the Café-Bar Pförtnerhaus and the digital agency Mind Studios.
