Parma Bandito salty croffle with cured ham and mousse at Pförtnerhaus Basel
The savoury breakfast

A savoury start

If you lean savoury in the morning, our salty croffles are a great way into the day: the Parma Bandito in the picture, say, with cured ham, handmade mousse and rocket. Or the Croff'Monsieur, our take on the good old croque monsieur, with farmhouse ham and Gruyère fresh from the croffle iron. Add a glass of champagne if you like, breakfast doesn't always have to behave.

On the side

Sweet things, drinks, add-ons

Bircher & sweet things

Our bircher muesli comes with fruit and cream. Add a warm sweet croffle, from Sweet Blanco with cinnamon sugar to Grand Chocolat with Toblerone mousse. If you like your mornings sweet, you're in the right place.

Drinks

Espresso, cappuccino, flat white, latte macchiato and matcha latte, classic, vanilla or mango. Freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade lemonades, tea. And if you like: a glass of «Good Morning» champagne by Pol Roger.

Add-ons

If you want to turn your breakfast into a little brunch: Swiss Lachs with horseradish mousse, Grisons cured ham with parmesan mousse, Engadin salsiz, salametti or a fine cheese selection.

And on weekends?

Breakfast is served Monday to Friday, à la carte, no cut-off. On weekends we only open for our monthly Sunday brunch: buffet, fixed seatings, CHF 39 including a hot drink, separate reservation.

Breakfast FAQs

From what time can I have breakfast at Pförtnerhaus?

We serve our Pförti Z'Morge Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m., all day long. There's no cut-off time, you can have breakfast in the afternoon too. On weekends we only open for our monthly Sunday brunch, which needs its own reservation.

Do I need to reserve for breakfast?

No, you don't need a reservation for breakfast, just drop by. For groups of ten or more we appreciate a short message or a call, so we can set everything up.

What is a Croff'Monsieur?

It's our Pförti take on the classic croque monsieur, built on croffle dough instead of toast: farmhouse ham, Gruyère and sun-dried tomatoes, freshly baked in the croffle iron. Savoury, crisp, made for breakfast, and available all day.

Are there vegetarian and vegan options?

Yes. The bircher is vegetarian, the sweet croffles have vegetarian variants, and the Vegi Love croffles like Hummus Affair are meat-free. If you have allergies or eat vegan, just let us know, we know our ingredients and will find something for you.

What is the difference between breakfast and Sunday brunch?

Breakfast is served à la carte, Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m., all day. Sunday brunch is a buffet format on one Sunday per month, in two time slots, at a flat CHF 39 including a hot drink. Both need separate reservations.
